The pond of the Poitevinière was formerly used as a source of supply of iron ore for the manufacture of cannon balls at the time of Napoleon.
Since its inception, the pond has never been fully emptied and the carp that live there are largely native to the lake.
The place was opened to fishing known as “commercial” from 1995.
Area : 78 hectares for 3km long and 400 meters wide and with an average depth of 2.20 meters with some pits 3.5 to 5 meters deep.
Located north-east of Nantes in the Loire Atlantique (44), the Etang de la Poitevinière is a Mecca for carp fishing in France.
Each of the 32 stations of the pond is equipped with a pontoon to accommodate the carp angler (s) who come to stay on the water. These pontoons allow a most comfortable advance to practice your fishing and contemplate the place.
4 separate areas :
On the South side, 20 posts (No. 1 to 19) plus 2 posts 32 and 33 are aligned and generally allow fishing the bed of the original channel, at reasonable fishing distances.
Post 0: located in open water, close to the emptying system, this isolated post offers very interesting fishing opportunities for those who will not throw their rods at random … The essential post in full wind of East!
North side 10 posts (or side castle), stations 20 to 27 plus posts 30 and 31 will welcome you for larger fishing areas and a wild side for private. Some positions are really beautiful and their amenities appreciated by all.
The Island (28 & 29) is accessible only by boat available, the island offers a 360-degree view of the pond and remains a post to test for beautiful fishing.
